These french bread pizzas are great all year around. More Halloween food ideas I love are Smokey BBQ Roasted Pumpkin Seeds, Candy Corn Fruit Parfaits, and Mummy Cake Balls.

As a kid I loved coming home from school and making myself a French bread pizza, probably one of the first things I taught myself to make. I still make them for my kids only instead of using white bread, I make them healthier with a whole wheat baguette.

Madison LOVES these pizzas, I usually make them after school for her or even for dinner. You can even freeze them before you bake them if you want to make extra, then bake them anytime frozen.

French Bread Freezer Directions: Prep the pizzas before baking and place in freezer safe baggies. To heat, cook from frozen 400F until heated through, about 20 to 30 minutes.

Variations

  • Don’t want mummies? Feel free to top them with anything you like on your pizza!
  • Use bagels or English muffins in place of french bread.

  1. I made this for dinner tonight for my family, all of us (including myself) are some of the most picky eaters you will ever meet. My mother doesn’t even like pizza, and my dad refuses to eat any other sauce but traditional Ragu.
I made this, thinking my dad would absolutely hate it, but to my surprise he loved it (and honestly seemed like he was in heaven) and when asking what sauce it was i pulled out the Marinara and showed him. (he was shocked none the less)
And my mother absolutely loved it too, leaving no more than two bites when she was finished.
It was one of the most amazing pizza recipe’s we’ve ever tried.

Hi Gina! You put an asterisk after the baguette, but then I don’t see a footnote, etc. Just don’t want to miss anything! These look adorable!

You still have an asterisk after baguette. Hope it’s not something super important that would make these even better.

  4. So cute! I’m going to make these along with my other Halloween special: Spaghetti with Eyeballs. Very appealing to the 10 year old boy set.  Just put olive rings on two large meatballs (just as you do on the Pizza Mummies) and cut thin strips of roasted red peppers to make scary veins on the eyeballs.  Sit the two eyeballs on top of a mound of spaghetti covered in red sauce.

So much fun! A friend of mine made pizza mummies out of crescent rolls last year and they were a hit. Going to have to try this version!

  11. I was just looking at these and my son jumped up and shreaked (yes shreaked) "YES! WE HAVE TO MAKE THESE!" So tomorrow for lunch we WILL MAKE THESE!

  12. These were such a hit today at our pre-Halloween get-together! Neither my grocery store nor the nearby bakeries had whole wheat baguettes, so we had to use regular. I made a few of the pizzas with pesto sauce instead of tomato sauce for a friend who doesn't eat tomatoes. Kids and adults loved them! Thanks for the adorable suggestion.

  13. I have just revised my first 4-H Cooking lesson for next week. The kids will learn to make marinara from scratch and then create these for themselves. Thank you!

  14. my kids loved these!! so cute!! I substituted sub rolls because softer for them but would do baguette for me! yummmm!!!!

  17. I am babysitting my niece and nephew this Sunday (5 & 7) and these are absolutely perfect for a dinner we can all make together! Great idea!
